SGIS Awarded Mass Notification Systems Delivery Orders in Support of the United States Marines

“We are honored to be part of such an important initiative for the Marine Corps,” said SGIS CEO Hany Girgis. “Mass Notification has become a critical and necessary component in the protection and safety of U.S. Marines and other personnel all over the world.”

SGIS was recently awarded multiple Delivery Orders from a multiple award prime contract by the Space And Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic). This contact has a one-year base period and is valid until September 21, 2010. The total value of the Delivery Orders is over $2.6 Million. The work, which consists of upgrading existing Mass Notification Systems (MNS) on multiple Marine Corps installations, will be performed at various locations including Marine Corps Air Stations in Beaufort, South Carolina; Cherry Point, North Carolina; Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; Miramar, California; Yuma, Arizona; and New River, North Carolina.

SGIS Awarded New Task Order Under Space and Missile Defense Initiatives Support III (SMDIS III) Contract

SGIS has been awarded a new task order by the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command / Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT). SGIS competitively bid for this task order under an existing contract the company was awarded earlier this month, the Space and Missile Defense Initiatives Support III (SMDIS III) contract. Under this contract, SGIS will provide scientific, engineering and technical assistance support for Space, Missile Defense, Global Strike, Information Operations, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) and Homeland Security.

This task order has a one-year base period with four option years. It is valid until September 29, 2014 and has a ceiling value of over $2 Million.

Based out of our Washington D.C. metro area office, Parr is a finalist in the Employee of the Year category. As a Business Analyst with SGIS, she focuses on the operations of one of the four SGIS business units. She is responsible for tightening the contract management structure by tracking current SGIS contracts more closely, ensuring customer contractual requirements are being met, finances are accounted for and funding is obtained on time. Effects of Government Budget and Spending Trends on the Contract Workforce

Federal spending for vendors, services and products in 2009 targeted many areas. The largest two areas were Government Contracts and Federal Grants, comprising approximately 70% of the total spent. However, in 2009, 46% of the total spending went into grants, overshadowing contract dollars by almost 20%.

With an overall rise in grant popularity and spending and a federal goal of decreasing in the percentage of overall contract expenditures, the Government is clearly showing the direction of spending trends likely to occur in 2010. As contract companies prepare proposals for Government contract opportunities, the Government is actually working on shifting more funds to Federal Grants and Government Civilians Acquisition Programs, as mentioned in one of our previous blogs.
